Yom Kippur The Day of Atonement

Yom Kippur is today whether or not you celebrate

fast or eat or just drink coffee today

no matter what you believe today we all

you don’t have to be Jewish  we have the chance to consider

what we think what we believe today even if you don’t like

the word holy and I don’t even if the idea of religion

is a problem the we and they of it the inevitable tribe

today we who are all so different from one another

so much the same we have chance if we decide to take it

in any form in any way to consider our lives and

what we’ve done and what we will and then tonight

when the sun goes down and we eat, fasted or not,

a world that is so big and so small a world that is every

single one of us a world will begin again.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
