Writing Class, Cairo Public Library Part 1

Dear Everyone, Well I sent a much more traditional cover letter (The Experts Said NO NO. I wonder about Experts) with a third paragraph: I did this and that. Nothing more real than that. Who knows.

Meanwhile, tonight I am teaching one of my favorite classes, at the CAIRO PUBLIC Library. I have written many poems to the library and the students, but so far I haven’t done JUSTICE to why I love it there. Its what libraries should be, and writing classes, and even, people.

WRITING CLASS, Cairo Public Library

Some Thursdays
when we can
we meet in the Cairo
Public Library.
Dean (could I ever
describe Dean except to say,
very loudly, DEAN) who is
the library President, also
guitar player, artist
in various disciplines
graceful sentencer Dean
opens the door for us.
We enter never knowing
what sentences we will
write. (Tomorrow
I will tell then to you)

Esther Cohen

Let me tell you why I’m here, and why I hope you’ll join me.
I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I’m here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
