When it snows

When it snows,
people
always people make
life work.
If we
were able
to remember if we
understood
there would be
no subway
without subway workers
buses either we couldn’t
walk outside
unless we shoveled
or someone else did
there would be
no food
in markets
without trucks and
drivers and people
putting food on the shelves
if we could see
more than ourselves
see how hard many work
see how closely our lives
are intertwined
how much we need one another
if we understood only
that if we could see
more than snow.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
