Women Who Submit

Or Tracy Smith is the New Poet Laureate!!!!

It isn’t easy submitting poems,

when so many people explain

why they don’t like them.  Any poems.

I’ve saved many rejection letters but today

early this morning I don’t know why

acceptances often come early my guess is

people who like my poems don’t sleep much

Me either  Congratulations Esther Cohen

email about a tiny poem I submitted

we will chalk our poems on the street and they’ll

stay there until it rains. My plan was to submit

a poem a day all summer. So far I’ve submitted

exactly one although it’s been many days since

the plan. But my poem will be

on the street until it rains.

Let me tell you why I’m here, and why I hope you’ll join me.
I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I’m here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. Thank you. I read your lovely strung words -beautiful like pearls- every day. Some I send to my best friend. Elissa and truly find your thoughts filling like a holiday meal. A good meal, no a great meal. We consume every morsel!
