What We Celebrate

This time of year every day is nearly

a holiday time of year when some people give gifts

and some people don’t ┬áMika marries morning Joe

I tell my version of a Chanukah story small wins big

there is always a light somewhere

time of year when we invite people to dinner actually

all times of year a home is people eating together

my Korean acupuncturist wry wise man named Dr. Hyung

said that in Korean happiness and eating are synonyms

the time of year when we eat and eat although that

is all year too when maybe you who read these poems

will come over and visit and ignore all food restrictions

and maybe even read a poem of your own right here.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
