What Summer Is

besides hot, very hot,

life is more green more blue more open

the light can turn days bright yellow

even gold when I remember more than what I knew

my father and his college roommate

Sollie Stein bought a green duplex on top of a seawall above

a rocky beach in Woodmont Connecticut when I was born

the first house I loved

not because it was beautiful

it was not although it had

a screened in porch and linoleum floors

I still love linoleum floors

and screened in porches and every single summer.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
