What Now

You know how some words just Ring In Your Head? They are both friendly and familiar, more than many words. What now, although the words separately are not my favorites, together they have that ring of YES. I have often used What Now as a writing prompt too.

When I asked
what now good question
this time of year
there is no time
when what now
would not be
appropriate
when I asked
what now
on my telephone writing class
for stay at home seniors
we meet by phone one woman
named Ida
she hasn’t been out
for 24 years not
even to go to
a doctor’s appointment
when I asked them all
What Now
Ida wrote
Now at last
I will fly.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
