What My Poems Are About

Poems, the way words sit

on a page lines short not the same

as words in a sentence mine

are people poems every single one of them

neighbors I knew and didn’t people who

walk over or I go over there Ida Gordon

lived next door when I was a child and she

was one of my very first poems my father

talking about Ida Gordon she had binoculars

not for birds but for people  my father said

I sneeze and Ida says gesundheit and I went

upstairs and wrote it down.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
