We Had a Quarantini with Two Good Friends (COVID)

Nina and Peter outside

in sunlight we on our brown leather couch

drinks in all our hands none of us

said Zoom before March  we all were

happy to see one another as though we were

actually meeting, maybe even having a good dinner

in a real restaurant, possibly Peruvian, and

after a while, though we were in squares on screens,

living in a time we didn’t truly

understand, after we discussed What Is Happening

and What Might Happen Now

we started talking the way we did BC Before Covid and I

told an old story about a hairdresser I loved years ago

named Agnes Dunne amazingly enough a good friend

of both Billie Holiday and Judy Holliday

she’d reveal their hair secrets which I all these years later

revealed to our friends and for a while anyway,

life seemed normal again.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
