We Are Going to the Azores Today

Dear Reader Occasional or Always of These and Other People’s Poems,

We are going to the Azores today.  I mispronounce these Portuguese

islands 1,000 miles from Lisbon in the middle of somewhere Ah Zoar Es

might be right we are going because they are beautiful because they have

pineapples and tiny clams and volcanic springs and whales and wine because

there is a cheap  direct flight  from New York from Boston

because Brian and Maureen loved it  went back again because in the summer

we often take a trip (usually in the car) and I will leave my laptop home

and not post poems while we’re away (although I will write them) because

I will try to take a vacation from this crazy country this crazy world except

for the Ah Zoar Es except for whales and wine and books of other people’s poems.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. Esther Cohen,
Have a fabulous trip. It’s a real getaway from our current situation.
Forget Epstein, Trump and McConnell. Drink wine, read books,
drink wine, read books and so on.

Happy Birthday in advance to my wonderful Esther. Love to Peter O.

    Barbara with love.

  2. Have a sweet and beautiful time…it sounds so wonderful. Happy Birthday off the grid and away from the grind of dispiriting news and into a fresh and nourishing world you can see and taste and feel. Love to you both,

  3. Have a fabulous trip Esther and Peter.
I can’t begin to express how much I look forward and love beginning my day with you.
    Much love and appreciation
    (Debrah Wiley’s dear LA friend)

  4. to wine & whales
    poetry & peace
    from what
    is not
    to be with
    what is

    Happy trails to you
    until we meet again
    in poems
