What I Want from my Literary Agent

That she read my poems

maybe not everyday

some days enough

and that she thinks to herself

money isn’t everything

and also, there’s something

intrinsically appealing

about a poem even though

poems don’t have

Big Audiences because most people

think they look funny and are hard

to comprehend they appear in places

like the New Yorker and are about

difficult subject matter  problematic

emotions they are usually not friendly

rarely a murder in a poem although I did

try a poem murder once

dead body and then

an older detective figured out by the end

who did it even that dead body poem

maybe it could be an illustrated book

impossible to sell because still

it was a poem.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
