Turns Out

that I don’t want to write a poem

about the Daily News headline

Get Him Out don’t want to write

about the last few days and what he’s done

FOX news spin the constant stream of revelations

we stand on the streets to say No

turns out I would rather write a poem

about my Uruguayan neighbor Miriam,

elderly woman who goes to the gym

every single day since her husband died

she doesn’t look like she bakes pies, anymore

turns out there’s a Comey memo but my poem

will be about Miriam instead.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
