The First Day of the Birth of the World, Again

And there is rain, good for what is

outside this window

to listen to glenn gould and klezmer

finish library books finish a story about sheila

last day of county route 20 for now

day for a fire in the fireplace lentil soup laundry

a year that has to be better

elections and people and some holidays we invent

some that have been around

for 5,779 years to understand today.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

    I like the laundry
    In the klezmusic

    Mundane magic
    Of Jewish new year

    After years after
    World was born

    Next year both
    Again as always

    But don’t stop
    Praying for messiah

    Of course
    We know

    Better.
    -Z.
