TAK wrote to me because of love and a poem

Japanese designer living in Switzerland in the eighties

met a friend of mine named Sandy who died of AIDS

in New York City 1992 Tak loved Sandy we

all did  big hole when Sandy died.  He didn’t talk much

about his personal life:  where he was from for instance but

he could listen once I told him a story

at the Elephant and Castle a story that lasted five full hours

he didn’t move  never done that since many of us

loved him TAK tried to find out about Sandy since 1992

when he died and he kept googling his name nothing at all

and then two days ago he found a poem of mine about Sandy

telling me to go to Takashimaya to buy something to wear

at his life celebration dinner and I did  Tak found me

though the poem  asked me all the questions he’d had

for 16 years about Sandy and his life and he was able to tell me

a friend of Sandy’s how much he loved him how much he missed him

and that friend would listen and understand.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
