I am reading poems
for Alimentum
magazine a while
since I’ve opened
poems from strangers
56 envelopes each one
a kind of poem.
about the literature
of food. I want to save
the cover letters.
Here’s today’s
poem about cheesecake.

“In regard to
this cheesecake, it’s
the only dessert I have
learned to make. My
mom got this recipe
from a Jewish lady
she cleaned for
when I was in high school
thirty years ago.
It’s an utterly simple
recipe. You can eat
a huge slice
without feeling like
You have a lump
In your gut. I make
It still.”

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
