Road Trip (1)

Many times I’ve thought about writing a travel guide not a guide exactly but a Don’t Miss This book.  In verse.

Westport New York

pier restaurant blue everywhere

man walks up to us we are standing

near a sign Don’t Sit Down Yourself Wait To Be Seated

he is a customer this is not a usual restaurant

go sit outside where everyone is he says and we do

another man maybe the owner explains from the kitchen

some people didn’t come to work today

but you could sit here forever if you like and

after a while you’ll get something to eat

we took a table by the water boats and blue and summer sun

couple next to us started talking about their son

studying Chinese nearby husband

an umpire referees games they talk easily

we do to by the time the waiter brings

lobster rolls we’d all been sitting in the sun

for a while on this lake this lake we

are on vacation

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
