On the Road, Coffee, and Breena Clarke

Today I am driving with Writer Breena Clarke to the Berkshire Festival of Women Writers, where we will be joined by Cheryl Clarke (!) and Mary Johnson (!!) on a panel about women, writing, and helping one another.

Few years ago
woman next door
in Ghost Ranch
I don’t remember her name
saw me on my porch
saying the word coffee
out loud
hopefully
Ghost Ranch
while it has
the most wonderful sky
in the world
red rocks galore
light that is
no where else
they call brown water
coffee and so
this stranger
mentioned Breena Clarke
few cabins down
she had been
to Ghost Ranch before
so she brought
her own coffee.
I knocked on Breena
Clarke’s door
and now today
here we are
each with our
own coffee.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
