Real Meditations, or Things

Breathe In.  You are surrounded by things.

Breathe Out.  You don’t have to get rid of them.  Marie Kondo is pretty awful.

Even though everyone loves her. Breathe In.  Nothing wrong with things.

Some people like them.  Some people don’t.  Breathe Out.  You’ve always loved

all kinds of things.  In more or less every category.  Except hardware.

Breathe In.  Some people like things and some don’t.

So what.  Breathe Out.  Every Sunday in the summer there’s a fantastic flea market

nearby with fields full of things.  .  Breathe In.  It doesn’t

matter what’s there.  You can always find Something.  Breathe Out.  Also the people

at the flea market are always good.  Breathe In.  Last week Frankie described how happy

he was to buy two sinks.  Maybe it was faucets.  Breathe Out.

Peter bought me two of the  same pair of earrings because they were $2 and losing one

wouldn’t matter.  Breathe In. I’m always happy to have new earrings.

Breathe In.  Some people wear the same earrings

every single day.  Breathe Out.  Not me.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. Hardware stores are toy stores for men, I have read. I was a lumber dealer. I love hardware. Always some new idea. New invention. And if you lose one of a pair, you can find another. Breathe out.
