Real Meditations: Forget About Clearing Your Mind

Breathe In. This morning I listened to Two Big Experts explain about

Clearing Your Mind.  Breathe Out.  It’s impossible.  Forget it.  Breathe In.

There’s always a lot inside there.  Breathe Out.  What’s in my mind is too much

to Clear Out Just Like That.  Breathe In.  When they say the words Be Patient,

I feel more impatient.  Why is that?  Breathe Out.  I kind of like what’s inside my mind.

Pictures and words.  Breathe In.  I can see my grandmother Anna Sorocer very clearly

in there.  I loved her a lot.  Breathe Out.  You can probably see your grandmother too.

Everyone loves their grandmothers.  Breathe In.  My grandmother jangled.  She wore

a ton of jewelry. Earrings rings necklaces bracelets.  And sometimes she’d say I Forgot My

Pin.  Always made me laugh.  And then she’d put one on.  Breathe Out.  She  looked

great.  She had a fake Chanel suit jacket, and a real one.  I couldn’t tell the difference.

The fake Chanel was from Loehmanns Back Room. Breathe In.  She loved Jimmy

Durante.  Breathe Out.  I love Mel Brooks.  I still love Mel Brooks.  He’s probably politically

incorrect.  Breathe In.  Irish Music is in my mind too.  We heard some last night.

Cherish the Ladies.  Good Name for a Band.  Breathe Out.  Maybe meditation is

Marie Kondoing the mind.  Breathe In.  I still try every day.  It’s nice just to sit.

Breathe Out.  Doesn’t matter what happens while you’re sitting.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
