Real (COVID)

In the country a few days

same real headlines one in four Americans

filed for unemployment the president has not yet

been replaced but this is not the same

lockdown life  different outside

a tree in New York City is a New York City tree

festooned bedecked the  splendor of Central Park

here  black walnuts are Noguchi sculptures more beautiful

than Noguchi here we walk up hills and see hills.

In New York each day we walk into the park

wear masks we keep our distance

a different we  how we understand

what’s happening now microbes viruses what we

should all do  we see who we are in the middle

of a pandemic we eat as well as we can

meditate we talk to one another about elections

and vice presidents and what we can each of us do

when this is over  even though there will be

consequences implications we know for sure there will be

an After This.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
