Obama is a Poem

Late last night

long after I’d promised myself

that I wouldn’t read any more

explanations of anything

listen to podcast stories

because listening can be

easier sometimes I would

stop reading after I looked to see

one last time if there was anything more

I had to read before I did not

Roxlyn sent a beautiful piece

by Ta Nehesi Coates

about Obama and I read that piece

long and wonderful and knew

how we well we all understood

that Obama is an unforgettable

big and gentle poem.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
