Gold light of this unusual summer
driving there to here on one of
those roads you swear you’ll remember
the way it is beautiful you’ll remember
summer green and seven o’clock
and then there is the sky and we are
listening to old rock and roll and the windows
are open we drive to friends
to their field where we all eat, together
and apart, briefly unmasked.
Prosecco and cherries and for a while
this life resumes.
