A Neighbor Whose Name I Don’t Know (County Route 20)

A neighbor whose name I don’t know

walked into our field with a young boy and

their dog. Can I help you

I asked a euphemism for why are you

walking across our field

I’m beyond help he replied,

smoking a cigarette.  He actually looked

like help  would be a good idea. I’m Esther I said

I’m Sam said the boy. The man did not

reveal his name.  This is our field I told him.

I know he replied and that seemed to be

the extent of what was possible to say.

Yesterday when we were going to the store

Peter said The Man and The Dog Were in the Field.

Are you implying that we should so something? I asked.

Absolutely no said Peter. Only adding to the information.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
