My Father Had a Friend Named George Yudkin (COVID)

They were friends in childhood but Men Friends the way

Men Can Be.  I’m sure they never said anything revelatory never

discussed  wives or children probably used the

word Fine very often as in Everything is Fine but still my father

liked George and George liked him and a week ago I emailed

George’s daughter Faye Ellen who has been Gila for many years

she moved to Israel and the old email I had for her

worked I we said more and in a funny way I felt

like my father and George were still friends even now.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. Yup. They were definitely Men Friends. At age 63 my father retired early and moved with my mom to Ashkelon, Israel, along the Mediterranean coast. He thrived, but spoke no Hebrew. After a couple of years I asked if he missed any of his old friends. He said, “Mike Cohen.”
