Mundane Details

Yesterday at dinner at Angel’s Restaurant

on Route 23 in Cairo New York

Angel is a Mexican man and woman both

eggplant rollatini Mexican style as well as the usual flautas

we discussed dull words and details

at the Cairo Public Library writing class

earlier last night we discussed

why  some words

like fine aren’t good enough because they don’t

mean anything even though Bunny explained

if you say something is fine it’s never good

at Angel’s  Khanyi bemoaned the mundane

and we all agreed that at least

the word mundane is a good one.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
