Morning Meditation on County Route 20 (4 minutes and 20 seconds)

Sit in any position you like.  Or lie down.  I always prefer

lying down.  You don’t need any props or supplies.  You can just

lie there.  Every spot is good.  Breathe in.  Breathing in is inevitable.

What an amazing day.  The first  of July.  Breathe out.

That’s inevitable too.  One of the most beautiful days ever.  You can

just sit there and think about Anything at All.  Breathe in.

Maybe you remember your dream.   In mine my brother called and said Vote for Kamala.

I said maybe.  What about Elizabeth Warren.  Breathe Out.  You don’t have to vote

for a while.  Breathe In.  This day is amazing no matter what.  Forget about

anything else.  Like why you get rashes every summer.  Breathe Out. They go away.

Breathe In.  There’s nothing you Have to Do Today except breathe.  And even though

that’s not entirely true, it almost is.  Breathe Out.  You can just lie here in the grass

facing the sky and breathe. In and Out.  You don’t have to think.  Just breathe.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. This poem is just what I needed today. A reminder to be grateful to be able to breathe and to just be. Thank you.
