Empty your mind of all

you’ll never do. Just by breathing.

Live in Corsica or Alexandria

finish the big novel by the bed

get rid of  books you haven’t read and you won’t read them either

all those clothes to give away like the purple silk afghani dress

you haven’t worn in almost 20  years but that purple

is perfect hanging there those dishes

that should go to Housing Works

exercise class you’ll never take people you’d intended

to invite for dinner volunteering in the shelter

forget about the list of What I’ll Never Do

just breathe, and then, breathe again and after a while

you’ll just be breathing and maybe you won’t remember

that you’d promised yourself by summer this or that

would be done and all you have to do is breathe.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
