Meditation: I’m Moving Upstate Tomorrow

Breathe In.  I’m not ready.   I’m not packed.

Breathe Out.  I used to be a better packer.  Once I went to Europe

for a few months and took three kimonos in different lengths.  Cecilia

Torres made them for me.   Three kimonos. I could do that again.

Breathe In.  I don’t have to do it again.  Breathe Out.  I took

a velvet bag of earrings too.   Breathe In.  I still have a velvet bag of earrings.

I take bracelets  too.  And some necklaces.

Breathe Out I have a million clothes now.   Breathe In.  I had a million clothes then too.

I just took three kimonos.  Breathe Out.  Three kimonos were good years ago.

Not so good today. Breathe In.  I haven’t chosen books to read this summer either.

Breathe Out.  The Cairo Public Library is minutes away. Breathe In.  The way

to move is just to move.  Get in the car with a good pen and a notebook.

Breathe Out.  I always have a good pen and a notebook right in my bag.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
