Maybe if I Write it Down

WHAT I LL’ DO TODAY

Maybe if I write it down
write it out
make a list
the way I see other people
making lists
maybe if I can
say the right words
I will gain control
or at least,
I’ll have a good list
of words.

Post my poems
some days not
every day but some days.

And then, I
earn a living
consulting for
working for
curating
helping people
write their books
dear nick
your book
has the potential
to be better
teaching a course
pitching
a travel article
don’t you dare
miss this
trying to buy
fresh orange juice
going to the library
and then,
reading the stories
of Edith Pearlman
reading too many
articles about Rachel D.’s
race issue, and her hair.
Can she have black hair
if she is white?
Trying not to read about
Caitlin Jenner.
failing in my intention.
And then
there’s afternoon.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. Esther, may I remind you about our exchange of messages some months ago, when we discovered how many of “us” there are ? I’m the brazilian Esther Cohen from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul State – meaning at the very south of the country. I enjoyed your daily doubts about what to do. As a matter of fact, so do I, but I think it’s in a bit different way. I have so many things to do, to care of and also to fix, that sometimes I wish the day should have more hours. As a journalist and a free publicist, I really feel the days could be longer. You can know me better by my blog falandoembomportugues.blogspot.com where I try to defend the good use of my idiom. There is a translation option. Have a nice day.

      1. Ok, I was missing you but I understand you are very busy and wouldn’t feed an exchange of messages with someone who has nothing in common with you but…her name. Despite of this I’d like very much to hear from you at least once in a while. Anytime. Kisses…
