Mary Asked Me Yesterday What I Want to Say

I’ve thought about that the way

those of us do. We play with sentences. We try so often to write

something down what we know and what we don’t do I have a theme

a message a topic sentence my high school

English teacher Mary Lane used to discuss topic sentences

my theme could be Look Around and You’ll See

That Human Beings Are Amazing

Mary Lane would not like that as a topic sentence

but I might follow it with an example maybe even

a personal story:  I met a man at a dinner party

in a living room 40 years ago and we are still

in that living room at that same dinner party right now.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
