Lists, or Amanda Gorman is Amazing (COVID)

Yesterday Dan said  he

likes list poems.  Me too.  America

likes poets at least this week

because Amanda Gorman is amazing,

and I, in honor of the strength

of Amanda Gorman, 22, I, one of the millions of poets

in every building, in every town, I will

buy a yellow jacket and a red hat,

and then I’ll write a poem.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. I loved watching Amanda Gorman recite her poem. Her grace, inflection and ease amplified her words. I also love your poems Esther. 🙂

  2. Thank you, Es, for writing this about Amanda Gorman. She was truly mesmerizing and while she was speaking I was thinking of you, and knowing how much you would love and appreciate what she did for our country and for poetry.
