Sometimes I wish I were a Rise Up poet capturing Big

Moments but small moments are more my subject matter

and what I can say now is only how happy so many of us feel

though  happiness is never perfect

how happy we are knowing that the ways we couldn’t breathe

for so long the ways we held on to the idea that four years would end

the ways we helped each other hold hope and keep

working and calling and sending  songs and bringing food to neighbors and

asking each other for Netflix suggestions and believing

in decency and good and believing in Stacey Abrams and poll workers

and workers everywhere who wanted a better world and yesterday so many of us

all over the country all over the world we celebrated together and called

one another and now today, another beautiful day in November, now

after we have all heard Biden and Kamala and Van Jones and the America

we knew was there we know is there now we can continue to work again.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
