Jacob Comes from the Ukraine and Drove a Cab for 25 Years

(When someone picks us up in a car to take us to the airport, I feel like writing

a poem. This is a mid-serial bonus)

Jacob picks us up on time and he is sort of like

a difficult Israeli though he is Russian he wants to drive

to Newark by going to the George Washington Bridge

instead of Lincoln Tunnel and we say we’d rather go

the Lincoln Tunnel way but Jacob does not like

Lincoln Tunnel and we say Please and try Other Tactics

and finally Jacob says Well You’re Wrong even though

the George Washington Bridge is a lot longer Jacob says

Well You’re Wrong But You’re Paying the Bill and then

he tells us he doesn’t like he Lincoln Tunnel who knows why

but we go that way to Newark only half an hour and along the way

Jacob says he is a Trump supporter for this reason and that

and we talk about the usual subjects Israel Anti-Semitism and Jacob

says his daughter and her husband they all live in New Jersey

they said to him You Don’t Know Anything About America they’re

Democrats said Jacob so is his wife and then Jacob says we were

right about how to go to Newark airport and Peter whispers to me

Please Don’t Invite Jacob and His Family to Dinner.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
