My VIA driver last night he was

from Tajikistan  came by himself his father

heart doctor there so couldn’t leave

he pulled over to tell me a little about food

and how he likes kebabs not all but some

if I wanted I could take the R train to a very good

Tajiki restaurant as good as a second home he said

he gave me that information and some statistics because

he is an amateur mathematician.  14% of all people

in his car are on the phone but  not you today he said.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. Esther, would love details on finding the Tajiki restaurant. Queens, Brooklyn? I’ve had cab drivers tell me their favorite Ghanaian eatery. Nice way to find authentic meals made by recent immigrants trying to recreate the taste of home.

  2. I just found you a week ago. What a treat it is to read your words. They allow me a glimpse into experiences, transcend the moment… and to dream. INFORMATION reminds me of all the fleeting conversations and brief encounters which continue to enrich my life. I look forward to your next observations. Thank you. Any possibility of sitting in on one of your classes when I visit NYC? My gypsy wings are fluttering to try Café Dushanbe sometime.
