I’m Getting Older (redux)

I’ve never prayed before.
What I’ve done
on some occasions
is mumble and sing
when the times
were appropriate.
But now, for reasons of body parts
teeth especially
and friends
for reasons
of Republicans and news
and because I am
at last suddenly
after all these years
Getting Older,
now I find myself
praying. My prayers
are poems and music.
I don’t dance
often enough.
My prayers involve
listening. They are stories.
Simple stories. They are
not intended for any kind
of deity. Even a Good Woman
of All Colors and All Genders.
They are written every single
day. For you.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
