I Said No

always  want to say yes

to see this or that work in a soup kitchen

go to a restaurant in Sunnyside take the path

to Jersey City see a play at the Public years ago

Annie was my No buddy I wrote a big No near the phone

tried to say it usually didn’t this morning

a woman I’d met with last week she can help anyone

said she’s had great success we met so she could

explain how she works she took notes told me her method

she could help me simplify n ways she knows I need

I wrote her a tentative no explaining explaining but she

insisted we speak today at 9 so she could have a chance  to explain

just why i should say yes and without her help  I said no.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
