Never Enough Delores

My friend Delores
will visit today
I’ll ask for another
story about Annie
her best friend
who’s been in hospice for years
she’s sort of OK
That is, she looks good
and so does Delores
Delores and Annie go dancing
on Fridays each have
boyfriends Annie dances
with an oxygen tank but her boyfriend
says the tank is kinky
and that makes Annie laugh
Delores plays spoons
and she is actually a spoon
master For my birthday
Delores brought over
her favorite flapper outfit
fringes all over gave it to me
still got your knees and hips
she said so this
dress is yours I have
plenty of others where
body parts don’t matter
What’s a body part
except a part
said Delores

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. Dear Esther–Your work has given me much pleasure over the months, and I’m grateful for that. But the other side of your so-frequent posts is that you’ve worn me out a bit. I’m unsubscribing for a while, taking a breather. See you again in a few more months.
