Hair Words

I have, because it is American and language

can you imagine

puns in Florence or Paris

where all hair is cared for

in a salon never a hair saloon

I have collected names

of hair salons forever and when we go

on our annual road trip  (two weeks from now)

I always keep a Hair Notebook.

Three good names yesterday

in Hudson New York:

Mane Street,

Curl Up and Dye.

If you send me yours, I’ll

keep them too.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. “Headlines: A Cut Above”
My hair guy, the co-owner, grew up here in San Carlos, CA, and married his high school sweetheart. His parents had an Italian restaurant. He gave that a try but decided hair would be easier. Thirty years later, he has a shop with a dozen chairs and knows all the local businesspeople. Every year, he takes two vacations: one with his wife (and sometimes one or more of their kids) and one with a group of guys he grew up with.

      1. Definitely. Another example: a couple years ago, he had one of his sons get the sons of his vacation buddies to come surprise their dads in AZ and make it a father-son golfing vacation.
Have a great road trip! Now that I’ve seen the entire Old Friends, I now have a vision of you and Peter in the car 🙂

  2. I don’t have a memorable name for hair cutting salons, (maybe “Buddha and Joe”), but my most unforgettable name for a maternity clothing store, “Motherfrockers”.
