Good Story Even Now (Covid)

Serious fan of the Pennysaver, free handout

we receive ours tossed into the upstate driveway

and I have read small classifieds for everything you could

possibly want plumber gardener at home tattooer as well

as objects for sale for many years now

(bought someone’s great aunt’s candy dish for the

description of Great Aunt’s creamy candy 12 years ago.)

A digital version, less idiosyncratic, satisfying still,

started a while ago called Next Door.  I read this every day.

Advice more than services themselves

as well as neighborhood information about restaurant

fire at Freds etc.   Good dentists a favorite category.

A few days ago a woman posted that the fruit and vegetable vendor

on 68th and Columbus was back on the street

When I saw that Fresh Direct was charging $13.00 for 2 pounds

of inorganic white grapes I thought I’d walk over to buy food from the cart,

The owners are religious Moslems.  They bring their rugs and pray.

I got there around 1 and there was Mohammed picking out raspberries, blueberries,

white grapes for  Jorge the homeless man with no teeth on the next corner.

Mohammed was bringing him lunch.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
