FORGIVING Part 2

Many many people
emailed yesterday
about what they
couldn’t forgive
why they weren’t sure
forgiving was
a GOOD IDEA
some things yes
some things no
My friend Amy Siskind
she is one of those
SuperStar Women
posted the poem
on her blog many of her followers
she has thousands
weighed in.
Wise friend Julie
wrote forgiving
herself is hardest.
(more people
seem to care about
forgiveness than
everything else.
even sex
and getting older)
Angry stranger
I am glad that
some Angry Strangers
are at last reading
my poems although
I wish they weren’t Angry
sent me a list
of all he’d never forgive.
As for me
I wonder if we
shouldn’t add
one more forgive.
How could
it hurt?
forgive
forgive
forgive
forgive

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. E…getting to forgiveness is a process. The desire to get there is too, a process as one may not want to forgive and feel their is deep pain and loss. The angry ones, and we have all been there and may return, in their process need our forgiveness as we have reached that place of compassion. We can hopefully withhold measuring someone else’s pain. Our forgiveness, if we have it is filled with the compassion which can send others on their journey to first forgive themselves. Being haunted by anger is a burden and web of despair and can take a life time. Its moving and important Esther how you open such conversations. You remind me with your poems, what to do.
