Finally (CV)

I found a pair of lost red glasses

in a stack of papers in a Mexican bag

I’d intended to sort for a few years now

and because I am not usually sitting in the apartment

for hours on end maybe never until now and because

I am one of those people who buys something every day

even if it’s a bottle of ketchup this apartment is full

of papers and food and I am able now to find my glasses

and some lost poems and pieces of paper I’ve saved

forever like a letter from 1978 from a man who wanted

to write a book that begins with the word Finally.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. Betty’s sleeping—and I just read your poem of the day—loved it!—went to three different markets today to buy groceries for Betty—and the scene at every one of them was a little scary—reading your poem made me chuckle softly . . .

  2. Dear Esther,
For a moment you transported me into your apartment, I could see it, very colourful, and then bounced back to my house, where, even if I don’t buy something every day, there is still a lot to discover when I open a drawer in a rarely used cabinet, like yesterday, I found a deck of meditation/introspective cards I brought back from India decades ago. I took them to my porch, laid them out and did the breathing as required, asked the questions, don’t remember the answers. However I do remember the moment of serenity
As always, I enjoy your daily poem,
    Take care, stay well

  3. Thank you Esther. I’d love to visit, and this also goes for you, maybe come to a Byron Bay Writers Festival? You’d be very welcome to stay with me.
Well, who knows when there will be a new normal and what the other side will look like.
I wish you all the best, stay well.
