Expectation, Hope, Giving, Resentment, (or Just Words)

My friend Sue she died a few years ago

once she sent me an email by Dr. Ben Kim,

Korean chiropractor, and although I don’t read

health emails health newsletters  I don’t unsubscribe because Sue sent

this to me. Sometimes I read them. Today he talked about

giving and resentment, how he helped his parents

but he gives more generously

when he pays for the person in back of him at the drive in

because his donation is anonymous. He describes  his resentment in

giving. Last week at class in the Cairo Public Library

we discussed expectation versus hope. Half the class

believe expectation isn’t good,  getting us into trouble.

Still it’s hard not to wake up every single day

wondering if  today’s the day.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
