Don’t Miss This, or Maybe the Answer is in a Dream

A while ago,
I went to a shrink
named Jane. Her
office was on
58th Street
between 8th and 9th.
There was construction
down the street
and I’d read somewhere
that Philippe Starcke
did the interior. I love
him and his cows and his
funny furniture so I
went inside the very first day
the building opened
to drink a cappuccino
in the faux Moroccan courtyard.
Both were wonderful.
I stopped seeing Jane
but continued with my
courtyard cappuccinos.
My friend Joanna and I made
a date to meet right there.

A few years later she said
what was that place you
suggested? Somewhere in the
West 50’s. And I who
no longer remember everything
I did once and now I don’t
I really couldn’t remember so
I made a few guesses. They were wrong.

Two nights ago I had a dream.
Joanna asked the same question
but now I knew the answer.
The Hudson Hotel I told her.
The Hudson Hotel.
TomorrowI plan to return
for another cappuccino.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
