Birthdays, Covid and October

Many  people I love  born in October I don’t know

why  October has always been

a birthday month and even though

birthdays  still happen now

we celebrate with quarantinis

on zoom two words I’ve never used before

if  I said zoom in the past  I meant

movement  not sitting on the couch with my

laptop on my legs looking at faces in small

Hollywood squares on the screen looking at people

from the neck up some are wearing pajama bottoms

but I can’t see them  in this strange world of Covid

and  more weeks of uncertainty but still

celebration is celebration and quarantinis

no matter what you decide to drink

Negronis or not quarantinis are a good thing

even now.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. Yes! Cheers! Still remember our joint birthday celebration at the Hotel DuPont -was it 6 years ago already? Thanks for your dedication to our daily dose of poetry and reminding us what life was and may be again in normal times.
