Atonement Beginning (COVID)

Sorry for spending too much time

on my phone  easily distracted

running instead of sitting still

not listening enough starting so much

I’ll never finish not risking

courageous words sorry for judging

and judging so much that doesn’t

matter at all even what people eat

imagine judging a kind of apple

thinking But It’s Not a Honey Crisp

sorry for how small I can be

how often I forget the miracle of this.

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. [We’re] ‘sorry for spending too much time on [our] phones easily distracted running instead of sitting still…” I so appreciate
this poem. “imagine judging a kind of apple, never finishing not risking courageous words [We’re] ‘sorry for how small [we] can be…’ Thank you for reminding us of the miracle, Esther.
