Why Aren’t Your Poems About Bigger Subjects?

Yesterday someone wrote to me

a woman I do not know

why aren’t your poems  about bigger subjects?

You haven’t  written even one Hurricane Irma

poem  anything about DREAMERS

and it’s been a while since you mentioned

the disasters of this world.   Dear woman

I do not know. I would like to know

more about you. How you met your partner

what happened yesterday.  So many

pieces to every single life. Dear woman

I do not know. I’m happy you wrote  to me.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
