And now

we will go

to the country for a little while

I will try to write the sentence

I haven’t been able

to write all year  I have

tried over and over again in the country

there is a chance for better sentences

because there’s a porch and more sky

I have believed  for thirty or thirty one years that words

in the country in the morning after coffee

words I’m looking for

many of them anyway those words are right there

Esther Cohen
Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.

  1. The words are like little doggies, nipping at your feet. They follow you wherever you go, Ms. Cohen, and are always with you.

  2. I think I know how you feel about writing in the country. I’m also going upstate later. Maybe I’ll take some pictures. If I get something that I like I’ll show it to you.

  3. thank you. I am enjoying your poems. Especially this one. I must say the country can be inspiring once in awhile. I live in a rural area 365 days a year thought, and am not terribly inspired here. However, someone gave me a house so I’m here.

      1. southern NH near the Connecticut River. I used to live on Cape Cod for 30 years and though not a big city, it had enough people and interesting activities not to mention gorgeous landscape and so on, to keep me happy for a long time.
