What’s funny maybe funny isn’t the right word what is absolutely incomprehensible and also as common as day as common as breath what’s funny is how this one month old girl who is life itself how she has changed all the lives of those around her by her very existence. What surprises me as I get older (and even older) is how much I thought I once understood. And how obliviously many of us walk through life. Is there another way? I was NOT a philosophy major (Peter was).

of a child
birth of thousands
of children
what she
needs to live
what do they need
besides love?
Love and food
work one day
some good friends.
We often
run in circles.
Friend so
scheduled he
doesn’t have time
to watch French murder
mystery Spiral
dreams of the day
when he can sit and sit
and drink his lattes.
We are all trying to make
sense of what
does not lend
itself to logic
maybe if you
are a mathematician
scientist person
who believes
in the ability to understand
what birth means
how it feels
to sit and watch
a baby sleep
maybe if you are someone
who thinks life
is about answers. And now
here I am sitting near
a tree so beautiful
it is more than a tree
still only a tree here I am
trying to tell you
what it means
that a baby is nearby.
When there is always
a tree, and a baby nearby.

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
