A Voting Poem, or This Time Tomorrow We Will Know

today a day we have all been waiting for

aways liked the words bated breath

we don’t say bated often today some of us watch

obsessively trying to know before we can know

listening to expert sorcerers predict

what will happen what will happen today we who love

what this country is what it can be knowing all that happened before

change is slow and life is fast today we who want

fairness and dignity we who believe in justice even truth

and voting and what it means for change to happen

we text we call we knock on doors  knowing

we need more than hope today

Let me tell you why I'm here, and why I hope you'll join me. I am here to poem, to play with words, to tell stories when I can, and to ask you for yours. Words are what I love, how I see, and what I say. Words are how I know my life, and how I find my friends. I'm here to ask you to join me. Right here. To send me your stories, and your poems. And to read mine when you can.
